Mannequins Hit Sidewalk Catwalk

New York's famous fashion district is enjoying an artistic installation dubbed the Sidewalk Catwalk. Thirty-two Pucci mannequins are strutting their stuff down Broadway between Times Square and Herald Square. The stylishly sculpted figures are adorned with fashions by leading designers including Tommy Hilfiger, Donna Karan, Diane von Furstenberg and Michael Kors The designers were given free rein with their creations, the only requirement being that their designs be weather-proof for the summertime outdoor exhibition.

The designs themselves range from avant garde costumes to beautiful gowns that looked like they had come straight from the runway. All were a reflection of the designer’s aesthetic, or their perceptions of New York City.

The amazing street display also influenced window displays featuring Pucci mannequins and in store events at major sponsor, Macy’s Herald Square flagship store. The Pucci mannequin at the heart of the Sidewalk Catwalk, named The Timeless Walking Woman, is called this because, as stated by Ralph Pucci, “They’re faceless, representing women from all walks of life.' The new initiative will be in place until September 3.

The timeless woman is part of the Manikin range by Pucci, which is available exclusively in Australia and New Zealand from mannequin supplier mei + picchi.
